Propagation Pals
Project type: UXUI, Product Design
Team: Group of four designers
Role: Visual designer, UX researcher
Client: Urban Leaf
Background
This project was a proposal to the problem stated by the CEO of Urban Leaf, to discover a solution to encourage the younger generations in their 20s to taking interest in sustainably sourcing fresh produces.
My approach
To keep our audience interested in paying attention to indoor gardening was to focus on the emotional resonance of the novice caretakers, like helping them get over the fear of accidentally killing the plants due to the inability to detect what the plants’ needs were. From this, we proposed a source of companionship that also allows easy access to identifying the needs of indoor plants.
The product system that we designed is to have a mini robot pal that is hollow for a hydroponic plant to grow in, that is able to detect plant growth and condition and notify the user via mobile app.
Your “pal” will be available across various sizes and shapes depending on which fresh produce you would want to start growing. As you expand your exploration across multiple plants, you would also grow your family of pals.
From the main website, you would be directed to reviews, instructions, and possibilities if sustainably growing hydroponic produce at home with the help of a mobile app.
The app would feature the avatar of your robot pal, and how it could come to detect the needs of the plant to keep it alive.
